Marriage and life partnership are big steps.

Our Approach to Pre-Martial Counseling and Changes in Relationships

  • Supporting Couples: Pre-Martial Counseling

Premarital counseling is a space for couples to reflect on their values, goals, and relationship patterns before marriage. We explore communication, conflict styles, family expectations, financial beliefs, and cultural or generational influences that may shape your partnership. Together, we build tools to navigate challenges, strengthen connection, and create a shared vision for a healthy, resilient marriage.

  • Supporting Families: Families Embracing a New Partner/Spouse

Bringing a new partner or spouse into your family can stir excitement, tension, and old patterns—especially if you’re the first in your family to take this step. We support families in navigating these transitions with care, helping everyone communicate openly, honor cultural and generational expectations, and build connections that strengthen relationships while respecting each person’s autonomy.

A Relationship is like a House.

What do we mean when we say a house?

As Drs. John and Julie Gottman teach us, we know a house requires a strong foundation, sturdy walls that hold it up, and a clear entrance in and out of the relationship. A relationship needs these things too.

Pre-Marital Counseling can help you build your relationship hous by providing the following:

  1. Dedicated time and space to express your concerns, worries, and encouragements as you take on this life-long commitment

  2. Challenge the assumptions you have about relationships: how communication works, how conflict is resolved, etc.

  3. Support your relationship through creating and setting boundaries that help your relationship.

Even though the Gottman Method can be a helpful one, it is not the only tool we provide to our clients. Tools and strategies are customized to your specific relationship from scholars and interventions like Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory and more!
